Getting Started

Before a player can participate in Pet Battling, they must first carry two battle pets.

A battle pet is a special type of pet that a player carries around inside of a Battle Leash which can have up to three abilities at a time. To create a battle pet, the following items are required:

• Battle Pet Cage ×1
• World Lock ×20
• Three pets of your choice that have abilities, each pet representing an ability that the battle pet will possess.

The process of creating a battle pet starts with wrenching a placed Battle Pet Cage, the player must then press the "Cage Beast" button. This will prompt the player to select the first pet to go into the cage, whichever pet is placed first will also become the battle pet's natural ability.

Battle Pet Abilities

Each pet that can be trained as a Battle Pet has a natural ability and an element that corresponds.

Natural Abilities and Elements

A Battle Pets' natural ability determines its appearance and element, which will always be the same element as the natural ability. This can affect the amount of damage it takes against other elements.

The Pet Battling element system is similar to that of card battling, with the different types of cards being swapped with the Elements Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. This chart explains how each element interacts with each other:

Every ability has an element which dictates the amount of damage it deals to its target. For example:

→   Pineapple Bomb is an Air type move that deals 18 damage to its target.
→   If it were to be used on an Earth Battle Pet, the move will deal 25% less damage.
→   Alternatively, if it were to be used on a Water Battle Pet, the move will deal 25% more damage.
→   The damage dealt by this move will be unchanged if it is used on a Fire or Air Battle Pet, since Air has no effect on those elements.

Once the natural ability of the battle pet has been chosen, wrenching the cage will now show your battle pet and its natural ability - scrolling down the interface will show the option to "gene-splice a new ability". Selecting this option will show a prompt to choose another pet to cage.

NOTE: Once the natural ability of a battle pet has been chosen, it cannot be removed from the cage, nor can it be replaced without the use of a Genetic Resequencer to reorder its abilities, so choose wisely!

Gene-spliced Abilities

While the first pet used for a battle pet is determines natural ability, the next two pets used are considered its gene-spliced abilities. These abilities are strictly the battle pet's additional moves that it can use, and will not be affected by the element of the battle pet's natural ability. For example, the move Spit Mud, which comes from the Pet Frog, will always deal Water damage when gene-spliced to a battle pet, regardless of what element the battle pet's natural ability is.

There are a few rules when attempting to gene-splice a new ability to a battle pet:
→   If the element of the new ability being gene-spliced matches the element of the battle pet's natural ability, the process will only consume 10 World Locks.
→   If the element of the new ability being gene-spliced does not match the element of the battle pet's natural ability, the process will consume a CRISPR Technology on top of the initial 10 World Locks cost.
→   The gene-spliced abilities of a battle pet can be replaced at any time, subject to the rules above. However, this will not return the pet being replaced.

Carrying Battle Pets

After splicing the required abilities, the battle pet will be ready for battling. To take it out of the cage, a Battle Leash must be equipped while wrenching the Battle Pet Cage, then clicking the "Put <pet name> in your Battle Leash" button at the bottom of the page.

Inside the Battle Pet Cage, there is an option to rename the Battle Pet in the cage, located below the "Put <pet name> in your Battle Leash" button. This only affects the name shown when standing on the Battle Pet Cage that holds the Battle pet, and not the name of it during battle.
